This is a defining moment in the year 2024 for Calvary Baptist Church. Here are the details and the time line of events How it works:
This is a baseball themed competition within our church body
Two teams will draft players on Sunday afternoon May 5th, 2024
Your Team Captains opposing one another and drafting their picks are: Lavon Driskell and Bobby Lambeth
This competition will span 9 weeks just like 9 Innings Starting June 2nd
There will be a winning team and a losing team.
This is a multi-generational, unity building, emphasis so everyone should want sign up for the draft
Trophy awarded to the winning team plus other incentives.
Scoring:
Each person on a team is counted as a “Hit on Base” in that inning for showing up to Life Group and the worship service. Those who only attend Life Group are ineligible.
Four Hits equal 1 run for that team.
Each guest in LG counts as HR each week, even after the first week.
A HR cleans up the bases so all hits score.
RBI’s are counted when someone invites and guest and guest attends Life Group and the Worship Service. Team Captains will hold each other accountable and be responsible for documented guests through guest slips.
A Salvation is a Grand Slam counts for 4 regardless of additional on base and runs scored.
Baptism is a Grand Slam counts for 4 Runs
New Member is a single run homer for that inning, or Sunday.
Seventh Inning Stretch is a celebration fellowship and review of happenings going into the last 2 innings (Sundays)
The 7th inning stretch is a special day at church on July 14th, 2024 featuring water games for kids, a cookout at the church and a whiffle ball game pitting the willing of the 2 teams against one another for a grand prize (tba)
In order to score runs we have to: 1. attend Life Group and worship each week. 2. Invite the unchurched to do the same and 3. Encourage people to take the next step in their faith journey with Christ, to include salvation, baptism or church membership.
See how it all works?
Draft Day? Also, a fun fellowship where the Captains will pick 1 player from each age group in our church, each round. So the teams will evenly divided between; Senior, Median, & Young adults then Students and Children.
Basically this comples us to do a better job at reaching people, building and creating community and sharing Christ with others!
