Meet our Staff Team
Our Lead Pastor, Andy Goode, comes to Calvary having served churches in Georgia, Arkansas, and Alabama prior to arriving here to serve at Calvary Baptist. Andy and his wife Patty have two daughters : Azlee Goode-Evans (Isaac); Avery Goode-Williams (Austin) and two sons: Adler (Rebecca) and Anson. Patty and Andy are both natives of Southwest Georgia where they served their home church, Sherwood Baptist Albany, Georgia , known for the movies: Fly Wheel, Facing the Giants, Fireproof, Courageous and other movies. Andy brings over 23 years of ministry experience to Calvary, with half of that time as a senior pastor and the other half as Missions and Evangelism Pastor to Sherwood and Local Missions and Campus Pastor to Cross Church in NW Arkansas. Andy left the business world in June of 2000 to serve full-time in ministry at Sherwood Baptist, while already attending New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary's Southwest Georgia Campus. Andy is a graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University with a B.S. in Political Science and surrendered to ministry as a first year law student at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law. Andy is a seminary trained and clinical practicum trained, well experienced and nationally certified Biblical Counselor, offering marriage and family counseling as a ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, at no charge. Committed to expositional preaching and qualitative biblical discipleship, Andy is a highly relational pastor desiring to present every man complete in Christ.
In the early 90's, as a lay leader, Andy's passion proved to be in personal witnessing and he believes strongly, in equipping every believer to witness as a way of life. Andy served as a clinic trainer and teacher in Evangelism Explosion ministry, training under Dr. D. James Kennedy at one of Coral Ridge's EE clinics in the late 90's.
The whole Goode family has been active in missions both at home and abroad with daughters Azlee and Avery serving on mission teams with the family as early as age 8. Missions was and is a way of life for the Goode family. Most of Andy and Patty's time in missions has been in Caribbean nations planting churches and developing indigenous pastors for Great Commission work. Andy loves in-shore saltwater fishing, bass fishing, any beach he and Patty can find, and loves to travel. The bucket list includes visiting all of the Greater and Lesser Antilles, before Jesus returns.

Our Women's Ministry Director is Debbie McBee, born in Collins, MS to Ted & Vivian Lott, as a daughter of a Southern Baptist preacher. Debbie's parents convinced her to attend a Baptist college so she attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK , earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, where Debbie met her future husband, David McBee. David loved God and helped Debbie see her need for Christ. At 20 years old, Debbie accepted Christ and married David a year and a half later. Debbie and David have 2 sons: Seth & Samuel. Seth & Stacy live in Glendale, AZ with their 2 sons and one daughter. Samuel & Jamie live near San Antonio, TX with their 8 sons and 2 daughters.(no mistakes here, Debbie has 13 grandkids, ages 2 to 20)
Through the years, Debbie's husband was a bi-vocational Youth/Music Director and bi-vocational Pastor of several churches while having a full-time job as a financial consultant. David felt called to help out struggling churches and Debbie always had an active part in his ministries. The McBees lived in Oklahoma for 10 years and then moved to North Bend, Washington, a small town outside of Seattle Washington, for 31 years.
After the McBee boys started school, Debbie began teaching kindergarten, Bible, Home Economics, Physical Education and first grade before attending Seattle University and receiving a Special Education Degree in behavioral and conduct disorders. For 27 years Debbie McBee taught at Echo Glen Juvenile Correctional Center where she wrote, developed and taught a hands-on curriculum where students learned practical Math, Reading, Careers and Life Skills through cooking, gardening, woodworking, practical paperwork and computer work. Later, Debbie wrote, developed and taught a curriculum for teen parenting classes.
After a long fight, Debbie's husband, David, died in 2017 from esophageal cancer. Soon afterwards, Debbie retired from teaching and found it too expensive to live in the Seattle area. Through God’s direction Debbie decided to move back to Mississippi in May of 2019.
Debbie visited many churches in Hattiesburg before being led to Calvary. Debbie joined Calvary during the COVID pandemic in 2020. As our church doors opened again, and we had no pastor, God burdened her heart for our women’s ministry. Debbie fought this burden for several months, but God continued to burden her heart for our women. God won, and Debbie McBee became your Women’s Ministry leader.

Our Grief Share Coordinator is Mary Baughn, when we asked Mary for content on the staff page she wrote: "To quote Charles Dickens, “I was born.” The year doesn’t matter, but it was in the Mississippi Delta town of Yazoo City. Church was a way of life in this small town, and I became a Christian at an early age.
I graduated from Mississippi College with a Master’s Degree in Business (MBA) and pursued post graduate work at the University of Mississippi. I began my teaching career as a professor of business at Phillip’s Junior College, later accepting the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs. After the closure of Phillips, I was a professor of business at Belhaven College in their Aspire Program for adults who were returning to college. While there, I received a call from Mississippi College to teach Principles of Management and Principles of Economics in their Accelerated Degree Program for adults. I became the first adviser/coordinator of the program and later accepted the position of Assistant Dean of the School of Business where I worked until my husband and I moved to Hattiesburg.
After moving to Hattiesburg, I taught Principles of Management and Principles of Economics in the School of Business as part of the adjunct faculty at William Carey University until my husband’s health began to decline.
After his death, I wondered what my purpose in life would be. God answered this question when I was asked to become the facilitator/coordinator of the Grief Share program here at Calvary Baptist Church. Grief Share is a 13-week program designed to help those who have lost a loved one adjust and make a new life. This program has been a blessing to me and hopefully to others as well.
